RNL is a global leader in sustainable design for the built environment and is committed to providing sustainable solutions to the challenges we face in the 21st century. We approach our work with a sustainable design framework we call Design for One Earth, which is a way of advancing innovative solutions that set a higher standard of design and represent a higher value to our clients.
RNL is ranked 5th in the nation for sustainable design according to Architect Magazine’s comprehensive ranking system. With 15 LEED certified projects and 27 LEED registered projects, we have experience in a wide variety of LEED rating systems and project types. Our firm is structured around integrated multidisciplinary teams. With 69 LEED Accredited Professionals, representing over 60% of our technical staff, we have experienced sustainable designers in each of our design studios and on all of our project teams.
RNL is an active leader in the building community and works to advance the industry’s movement toward sustainable solutions for the built environment. Members of RNL participate in many building industry committees and task groups to promote sustainable design practices. We are a long standing member of USGBC, an ENERGY STAR Partner, an Adopter and promoter of the 2030 Challenge and have made the AIA 2030 Commitment. In addition, members of RNL regularly speak and provide sustainable design education to a wide sector of industry groups.
RNL has been committed to sustainability for more than 35 years, leading energy efficient and renewable energy innovations since the 1970s. Today, the staff at RNL is going beyond LEED to design the world’s greenest office building, a net-zero energy building for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, which is currently under construction.
